Truck Driving and Raw Foods

by Donnica Vavra

Q My husband is a truck driver and we are trying to figure out how he is going to take blended veggies on the road.

Drinking BROWN drinks are not appetizing. He does have an electric cooler he takes but his shakes will set for hours before drinking. Any suggestions?

A Not sure if we’re talking day trips or long hauling, but I have a few ideas. If we’re talking day trips then his smoothies should be fine in his cooler. Fill the mason jar or whatever container you use to the top so there is no air and it won’t oxidize and turn brown in a day.

When Victoria Botenko did her green smoothie events she would make a large green smoothie for people to drink from throughout the day and I think they were just fine. I have made smoothies for my daughters and kept the excess in a jar in the fridge until the next day with little to no signs of oxidation.

If we’re talking long hauling then taking a blender on the road and making a fresh smoothie every morning would be the way to go.
