Chocolate Shake

1 cup of almonds (soaked 8 to 24 hours, drained and rinsed)

1½ cups filtered water or young coconut water

pinch of sea salt

¼ cup cacao powder

8 to 10 pitted dates

Blend all ingredients together until smooth adding more liquid if needed.

Possible Options

Raw carob powder can be substituted for the cacao powder, although you may need to up the quantity.

There are a number of ingredients that you can add to change the flavor of your chocolate shake in one direction or another as you can see from the list below.

½ vanilla bean (scrape out bean)

dash of cayenne

fresh mint leaves

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

essential oil of lemon or orange
