Vibrant Living, Issue #149 Sex in the Raw & Raw Soup Recipes
April 08, 2014
Greetings Health Seekers,

Welcome to the VIBRANT LIVING NEWSLETTER

After a long respite I am back home, caught up with business here at home, like taxes, lol, and ready to share more raw thoughts, recipes, and information with you.

I spent a wonderful five weeks in Australia with my daughter Kendra, enjoying the company of family and friends, and enjoying the raw bounty that Oz has to offer. Kendra discovered paw paw (papaya), and I found a new variety of persimmon I was not familiar with. All in all a Wonderful trip.

In this issue of Vibrant Living I share my thoughts on the importance of the raw diet in enjoying sexual vitality and recouping that energy if already lost or wavering. There are a number of new raw soup recipes for your enjoyment and rating. These raw soups are great for doing a liquid cleanse or just eating an easily digestible meal in the evenings and getting a really great night’s sleep. And of course I have posted some amusing quotes from people more knowledgeable than I. Enjoy!

Sex in the Raw

To me sex is one of the more enjoyable parts of life. Always has been and hopefully always will be. Healthy sex in a committed loving relationship is truly a magnificent gift to be cherished and nurtured. But what are the forces of nature and man that can take this wonderful gift away from us?

Even though reports showing sexual dysfunction in our society are quite common these days, I’m always surprised at how just how many people are affected, and how young many of them are. Researchers say this usually manifests as erectile dysfunction (ED) in men, and a lack of sexual desire for women.

Depending what research you look at, the ED rate for men age 40 to 80 in the USA is anywhere between 10% and 49%. It’s hard to get an accurate number on this because so many men are reluctant to seek help for this issue. Researchers glean information from studies and sales of male enhancing medications like Viagra to try to get an idea of just how widespread the condition is. One in four men with newly developed erectile dysfunction are younger than age 40, and nearly half had severe ED, researchers in Italy say.

Worldwide about 30% of women suffer from lack of sexual desire with that number climbing dramatically with age and the onset of menopause.

Doctors and sexual therapists in the know tell us that that the human physiology is quite capable of performing and enjoying sexual activity well into old age in healthy individuals and that sexual dysfunction is not natural regardless of age. And there are plenty of people in their 70’s , 80’s and yes, even into their 90’s that are enjoying fulfilling sexual activity for themselves and their partners.

So what’s the underlying cause of this sexual dysfunction and what can be done about it?

Virtually all researchers agree that the two main medical conditions responsible for most of the dysfunction are diabetes and cardiovascular disease. In fact conditions like ED have made it possible for Doctors to be able to diagnose these major health risks early and start treatment well ahead of a major medical event.

Now as you may already be aware of, a healthy raw food diet can do wonders for your cardiovascular system and promote healthy insulin levels. As most of us know our health is incumbent on each of the many parts working in concert to create homeostasis. The holistic approach where all the parts make up the whole and are intricately connected relying on each other for support. A healthy raw food diet feeds the entire body in a way that supports all the systems so they may function at optimal levels and contribute to the whole.

At least 40 years of top level research show us that vegetarian and vegan diets produce a healthy cardiovascular system and general good health throughout. Dr Dean Ornish and his ground breaking studies set the solid foundation for positive results and since then the research has flowed in from around the world. Some of the more noted works coming from Dr Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr John McDugall, T. Collin Campbell, Dr Michael Gregor, Dr Gabriel Cousens, and the Hippocrates Health institute.

I know how the diet makes me feel…alive and vibrant. I know my body functions very well, including my sexual organs and their functions. To me this diet is life assuring every day. I expect radiant health and every day I am rewarded with such good health. The feeling I get from the raw diet reassures me that my body is working in concert and occasional diagnostic tests confirm that. I’m in excellent health for a young lad of 60.

To me it’s a no brainer. Why would I eat a diet that leads to sickness and disease and that degrades the quality of my life, when I can choose the exact opposite? The lure and addiction of the SAD diet is quite well known and perhaps some of you struggle with that, which is precisely why I built the Raw Foods Diet Center website and why I put out these newsletters. It’s a totally FREE resource to support you on your journey to greater health.

I think a high raw diet, say 75% to 80% raw, will give you amazing benefits; but let’s face it - eating one more raw salad a week than you’re eating now would be an excellent place to start.

Even if you’re young, think about the daily activities you enjoy now, including sex, and ask yourself if your current diet and lifestyle will support those activities 10, 20, or 30 years down the road. What you do now in all areas of your life will determine your future. Think carefully about the choices you make today because they are the seeds for the harvest you shall reap many tomorrows from now.

If you’re planning to have children then a healthy diet is important to not only be able to conceive, but to produce healthy children. As the old adage goes, “you are what you eat”, and so are your offspring.

So, what if you’re already “middle aged” and having health issues, perhaps even sexual dysfunction issues? Research shows that cardiovascular problems can be reversed with healthy diet in a matter of weeks, if not slightly longer.

What About the Hormones

Another cause of sexual dysfunction is unbalanced hormones in both men and women. To address this we need to look at where hormones come from. Basically hormones are made up of nutrients that are provided by our diets. If we are taking in good nutrition and not poisoning ourselves with unhealthy foodstuffs then hormonal issues can be greatly reduced if not alleviated.

There are a number of natural solutions to hormonal issues, like maca root, black cohash, and gingseng, which can finish the balancing started by good diet, and then there are natural bio-identical hormones available if needed.

Balancing hormones is good for more than just increasing libido. It can improve a wide variety of issues including weight loss, skin and muscle tone, vision, cognitive function, memory, hearing, and just about anything else that we think of as natural aging.

Many people just accept the idea that at a certain age “certain” things will happen and that’s the way it is, when in truth that is not the way it has to be. You could say wrong living, or perhaps better said; living in a way which goes against natural laws is really to blame. Once again, change what you’re doing and change your life.

There’s More to Sex than Just Feeling Good

In 2012 Doctors Brian and Anna Marie Clement wrote a book entitled the 7 Keys to Lifelong Sexual Vitality, in which they state “Sexual energy is a universal fuel of life. It nourishes the human mind, body, and spirit. Besides diet and exercise, nothing will naturally enhance your health throughout your life more than remaining sexually active. Healthy sex is one of nature’s most potent medicines.”

Other Causes of Sexual Dysfunction

There are a number of other issues that can cause sexual dysfunction and many you are probably already aware of. Stress plays a major role as a libido destroyer. In times of stress your body prioritizes and sex is just not anywhere near the top of the list. A variety of mental issues can put sex on the back burner as well. Excessive alcohol and drug use are real libido downers, even though in moderate quantities they may free inhibitions and raise libido at least in the short term. Prescription and over the counter medications can destroy sex drive in both men and women. Low self esteem and feeling unattractive can greatly diminish libido. A good therapist and or natural health care provider can help with these issues.

As always I point out that a healthy raw food diet is a fantastic foundation for dynamic health, but there are other important factors in addition to diet for enjoying a healthy cardiovascular system, sexual vitality, and good health in general. Daily exercise, fresh air, sunshine, loving relationships and a positive outlook on life all play a synergistic part in creating a healthy human being.

Continuously Updated Web Pages:

There are a number of new testimonies at the website which I hope you will read and pass on to others when you feel they would benefit. And please feel free to leave your own story if you feel moved to do so.

You need not be 100% raw to share a testimony; the fact is most people on the raw diet are not 100% anyway. Your story may inspire someone else, perhaps from the other side of the globe, to give the raw food diet a try.

Success stories.
